As a spunky Irish child adopted into a reserved Scandinavian family, I yearned to see a reflection of myself somewhere and eventually did when I stumbled across a dusty collection of Irish fairy tales in the library that was kitty-corner from my childhood home. Through that book, I was transported to a world that spoke to me as nothing had before. Unfortunately, I soon discovered there were not enough books with Irish fairy tales in my little local library and so I began to write them myself. As I grew, I wanted my characters on the page to be as real as they were in my imagination and so I became a voracious student of Irish language, culture, history, and mythology. It is my wish that within my stories you too are transported to a place and time in your life where you can rediscover the wonder of magic.
If you've read My Childhood Fairy Tale, which is posted on this site, I'm happy to tell you that I did eventually meet my birth family including four amazing half-siblings and an aunt who is an accomplished author and in whom I see the clearest reflection of myself. My birth father passed away years ago and though I never met him, I inherited his Irish heritage and his feisty spirit.
For the love of Michael Harris, my father who lives forever in my heart, I dedicate every story I write.
